Still Life Masterclass with Andrew Sjodin
with Andrew Sjodin
$250
Dates: September 25, 26, & 27
Times: 9:00am-12:00pm
Join visiting artist Andrew Sjodin for a three-day workshop exploring the practice of alla prima still life painting. Working from carefully arranged still life setups, participants will focus on observational skills and working in the alla prima style.
Andrew will guide students through the process of organizing a painting, establishing strong color relationships, simplifying complex forms, and creating convincing effects of light and atmosphere within a limited timeframe. Emphasis will be placed on observation, paint handling, edge control, and maintaining unity throughout the painting process.
Due to the workshop's condensed format, students will complete a series of focused studies designed to strengthen technical skills and improve decision-making at the easel. The workshop meets Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and is appropriate for intermediate to advanced painters seeking to deepen their understanding of traditional still life painting methods.
Please bring your own materials. A full material list and course overview can be found here.
