Students will develop foundational drawing and painting skills through projects centered on observation, proportion, value, color, and composition. Students will work from still life arrangements, natural objects, masterworks, and other age appropriate subjects while learning how artists use line, shape, light, and color to describe three dimensional form.

Projects will introduce students to traditional materials including graphite, charcoal, watercolor, and paint. Instruction is adapted to each student’s age and experience, allowing beginners to establish strong fundamentals while returning students continue to develop more advanced skills. Throughout the eight week session, students will complete both short exercises and longer projects that encourage careful observation, technical development, and thoughtful decision making.
